Meet the Buyer: Aldi

Market development

Meet the Buyer opportunity with Aldi at Royal Highland Show, 20 – 23 June

Scotland Food & Drink is pleased to announce a Meet the Buyer opportunity with Aldi at the 179th Royal Highland Show.

As Aldi celebrates 25 years in Scotland, the retailer is delighted to be returning to the 179th Royal Highland Show to showcase their long standing commitment to supporting Scottish suppliers and the fantastic range of products they provide for Aldi stores.  2019 also marks the 10 year anniversary of Aldi’s dedicated Scottish Buying Department and they would like to take this opportunity to invite those suppliers who do not currently partner with them, to arrange a one-to-one meeting with a member of their Scottish Buying team at their exhibition marquee between June 20th and 21st.

It is their ongoing pledge that Aldi in Scotland stands for quality, provenance and sourcing integrity. Aldi Scotland currently stock a range of over 400 Scottish products and are committed to increasing this total over the coming years. To this end, they are continuing to invest in Scotland in 2019.  Following the official opening of their multi-million pound Scottish Buying Office, work is now well underway on the new chill and freezer facilities at their Scottish headquarters, providing the infrastructure required to supply more Scottish products to Aldi stores.  Aldi will open seven new stores in Scotland during the course of the year, creating upwards of 200 new jobs in towns from Cumbernauld to Dundee.

Creating long term partnerships with their suppliers is at the heart of the Aldi business.  For five years running, their suppliers have rated Aldi as the best performing retailer for compliance with the Grocery Code Adjudicator survey, the ‘Groceries Supply Code of Practice’, which provides details on how retailers should manage their relationships with suppliers. In addition, Aldi were the UK’s first retailer to sign the NFU’s ‘Fruit and Veg Pledge’ which aims to create a fair and transparent produce supply chain.

To book a meeting please contact the Aldi Scottish Buying team at by May 31st with your preferred date and brief product category details.
