Derek is a Glasgow- based hospitality operator with over 30 years-experience in sector across the UK. Before starting his own hospitality business, he spent 15 years at The Restaurant Group (TRG) where he progressed from a GM position to that position of Deputy Managing Director and finally Brand Director. He left TRG in 2015 and opened Van Winkle, Barrowlands, in 2017 with Mharsanta closely following in 2018. Derek is passionate about serving up accessible great quality Scottish produce to both international and domestic visitors and works closely with a number of inbound tour operators and local attractions to welcome all visitors to Glasgow. He also operates The Boathouse at Loch Tay, Van Winkle in Glasgow West End and The Inchcolm Inn at South Queensferry.
