AcceptCould cow-sharing platforms be the new way consumers buy meat?
In 2015, Crowd Cow (USA) launched the world’s first digital ‘cow-sharing’ platform - an innovative buying process which enables consumers to pre-purchase different cuts of meat from a single cow via digital auction. The rationale behind the start-up centres on providing better traceability and meat quality for consumers, whilst enhancing animal welfare and providing economic benefits for farmers. Since its launch, others have been keen to take inspiration for the innovation, with cow-sharing initiatives now gaining headway in the USA, Canada, Australia, and now the UK.
