SAUSEDGE, a new brand of square sausage from Scottish butchers ‘We hae meat’ has just been tested across the England through Aldi.
SAUSEDGE is a different product from traditional Scottish ‘square sausages’ that are usually beef based, SAUSEDGE is 70% British pork and was developed by the family owned business in a bid to break into lucrative markets in England and Wales.
Alex Paton (Director) said: “We came up with the new brand name SAUSEDGE and tweaked our square sausage recipe for the English palate who prefer pork based sausages”. SAUSEDGE has a great eating quality and texture due to it being molded into blocks in the traditional Scottish way and not pressed like a burger.
Carlyn Paton (Sales Director) said: "Aldi loved it and decided to stock it as a test last week in their stores in England where it flew off the shelves."
This type of sausage is highly versatile and perfect as we enter BBQ season, it’s also a sector that hasn’t benefited from new product development in recent years.
