Ben Lomond Gin has unveiled a refreshing new non-alcoholic botanical spirit (<0.5% ABV), marking the Scottish brand’s first foray into the world of low and no-alcohol expressions.
Inspired by the full-strength Ben Lomond Scottish Gin, maintaining its citrus and juniper focused flavour profile, the result is the same exceptional quality and recognisable taste in a non-alcoholic form.
Launched in 2019, Ben Lomond Gin has established a reputation as one of Scotland’s most exciting gins, renowned for its bold flavour profiles and adventurous spirit, and was recently awarded a Double Gold for its Original Scottish Gin at this year’s San Francisco World Spirits Competition, one of the oldest and most prestigious spirits competitions in the world.
While the essence of Ben Lomond Scottish Gin has been added to the base of the non-alcoholic alternative, the product has its own unique flavour profile derived from the natural distillates and extracts used in its creation.
Locally foraged rowan berries from Loch Lomond and the Trossachs add a crisp bitterness, balanced by the sweetness of Scottish blackcurrants, while notes of juniper, orange peel and red peppercorns leave a balanced and versatile finish which is sweet, sour, spicy and aromatic.
The Non-Alcoholic Botanical Spirit is making its exclusive debut at The 152nd Open at Royal Troon. Pouring across the bars at The Open, visitors can be the first to try non-alcoholic gin alternative from 14-21 July 2024 in Ayrshire, as the prestigious golf tournament returns to Scotland.
The brand was named the first Official Gin of the Open in 2023, releasing a limited-edition gin to celebrate The 151st Open Championship at Royal Liverpool. This year, The Open 2024 Special Edition (43% ABV) has taken inspiration from the wild and natural style of the course and includes native botanicals hand-picked directly from Royal Troon itself: tansy herb, elderberries and blackberry leaves.
John Grieveson, Chief Marketing Officer of Ben Lomond Gin owner Loch Lomond Group, said: “Over the last few years, we’ve seen the trend towards more mindful consumption increasing. However, this doesn’t mean consumers should have to compromise on quality or taste.
“Ben Lomond Gin has always been passionate about giving people the freedom to explore, to drink wherever and however they choose. Our Non-Alcoholic Botanical Spirit is a delicious non-alcoholic gin alternative to be savoured anywhere you choose, ensuring you can fully embrace everyday adventure.
“We’re excited to debut this elevated option to the low and no-alcohol category at The 152nd Open at Royal Troon, where we look forward to hearing what gin enthusiasts and golf fans think of our new creation.”
Retailing for £22, the Non-Alcoholic Botanical Spirit is available to purchase exclusively from Ben Lomond Gin directly online.
