The Velvet Truffles of the Highland Chocolatier, created in Iain Burnett’s specially designed chocolate kitchen in the rural village of Grandtully, Highland Perthshire, have today received a further 4 international awards from the Academy of Chocolate. This brings an extraordinary total of 11 international and 10 national awards in the last 3 months alone.
The highest international award in 2023 for a Plain Ganache or Truffle was given to the pure Milk Velvet Truffle, and Silver and Bronze to the Pure Caramelised Ganache Velvet Truffle and the Chai Velvet Truffle, a creamy infusion of warm spices with Assam tea. Silver was also awarded to the Sea Salted Caramel Velvet Truffle, which has already become a popular favourite.
About the latest awards, Iain said, “It’s really encouraging that years of meticulously selecting the most flavourful ingredients and artisan techniques have been recognised on such an international level once again.” Above all Iain emphasised the efforts of all the team at his family-run business, saying, "The skills required to consistently create such world class chocolates can only be accrued through the many years of dedication shown by each member of my team. And we can only do this through the consistent support we’ve had from chefs and customers through some challenging years.”
The Academy of Chocolate is an organisation for chocolate professionals who promote only the finest cocoa and chocolate confectionery of exquisite standards.
