Sutherlands Pastry Academy & Coffee Shop Wins "Best Patisserie" at Scotland's Business Awards 2025

Top international Pastry Chef, Graham Sutherland was delighted to win Best Patisserie in Aberdeenshire at the Scotland’s Business Awards ceremony held at Ardoe House Hotel and Spa on Sunday 9 March.

Having returned home from Switzerland where he lectured at the prestigious Cesar Ritz School of Pastry & Chocolate Arts, Chef established Sutherland’s Pastry & Coffee shop at Inchmarlo Golf Centre in April 2023.

Later on in 2023, Chef then brought to life his ultimate business idea – to establish a pastry academy that aims to serve as an academic and educational hub for the next generation of Scottish pastry chefs.

“It’s an incredible achievement and recognition of all our hard work to have won Best Patisserie in Aberdeenshire at the Scotland's Business Awards on Sunday,” says Chef Patron and Owner, Graham Sutherland, “the whole team at Sutherland’s has worked so incredibly hard. There is no way I could have done this without their help. I’ve always loved the creativity and freedom that pastry and chocolate arts allows me and now, I feel it is time to share my knowledge and experience with the next generation of young, budding pastry chefs.”

Having completed its first year, The Pastry Academy is going from strength to strength. From an initial launch of 3 classes, The Pastry Academy now offers a complete range of 17 pastry and chocolate arts classes, from beginners to advanced levels.

So what is next for The Pastry Academy? Well in late March, Chef launches his first in-house residential course for trained chefs. This 3 day intensive pastry course takes chefs through the stages of how to create and present a 5 star contemporary Afternoon Tea.
