Scotland Food & Drink has teamed up with convenience retailer Scotmid for the fifth consecutive year to give Scottish producers a chance to grow, with three winning products securing a listing in Scotmid stores from early next year.
The 2026 Scotmid's Scottish Favourites competition offers Scottish suppliers the chance to win a Gold Award, with three lucky winners each receiving a listing in Scotmid stores, as well as a £2,000 monetary prize to support their launch.
Who can enter Scotmid's Scottish Favourites?
The competition is open to all Scottish food and drink suppliers across various product categories, demonstrating Scotmid's continued commitment to Scottish sourcing.
What products are Scotmid looking for?
Producers can submit two products per category, in a maximum of two categories. Scotmid is interested in hearing from businesses operating in the following categories:
- Bakery, confectionery and biscuits
- Crisps and snacks
- Chilled yoghurts and desserts
- Fresh meat
- Frozen products
- Chilled meal solutions
- Food to go (pre-packed products)
- Soft drinks, beers, ciders, ales and ready to drink cocktails
- Spirits under £25
- Food Cupboard Essentials
- New or Innovative Products
Entry Criteria
To enter the competition, you must:
- Produce products with Scottish provenance
- Have a quality management system in place, and have the appropriate means to
produce enough product to supply Scotmid’s 182 stores to apply - Comply with all applicable laws to supply foods and drink in Scotland and the UK
- Be able to supply samples of the product for tasting (if shortlisted);
- Provide a marketing plan
- Meet Scotmid’s minimum technical accreditation of the Safe and Local Supplier
Approval (SALSA) and Brand Reputation Compliance Global Standards (BRCGS).
Application Process and Key Dates
Applications are open now, and close at 11.30am Friday, 16 October 2026
All applicants must submit samples of their products by the following dates:
- Monday, 26 October, 9am-3pm - ambient samples
- Wednesday, 28 October, 9am-3pm - chilled/frozen samples
All deliveries must be marked as “Scotmid Scottish Favourites Competition Submission” to:

Shortlisted Producers
All successfully shortlisted producers will be invited to attend an online briefing on Tuesday, 10 November from 10am to 11am, where we will provide further information about the pitching process.
Final pitches will take place on Friday, 20 November. A timeslot will be allocated to you in advance.
Winners' Event at Scotmid's Head Office
If your product is selected as one of the three winners, you will be invited along to showcase your products at an event on Thursday, 3 December at Scotmid's Head Office in Edinburgh.
