The artisan Highland Chocolatier in Highland Perthshire has won once again at the International Chocolate Awards, proving anew that Iain Burnett and his team have the ingredients for global greatness.
The artisan Highland Chocolatier in Highland Perthshire has won once again at the International Chocolate Awards, proving anew that Iain Burnett and his team have the ingredients for global greatness. In fact, their Velvet Truffles were the only truffles in the United Kingdom to be judged by the Grand Jury at a high enough level to be able to proceed to the World Finals, then going on to retain the title of Best White Truffle in the World.
At this year's World Finals in Florence, Italy, Iain Burnett's Velvet Truffles swept Gold, Silver and Bronze awards, in addition to receiving three further special awards due to their outstanding recipes, textures and craftsmanship.
The Caramel Velvet Truffle with a Twist of Liquorice received Gold, while the Raspberry & Black Pepper Velvet Truffle and the White Lime & Chilli Velvet Truffle received dual Silver, and the Passion Fruit & Mango Velvet Truffle was also awarded Bronze.
Iain's small family-run chocolatier has now received over 60 national and international accolades, including World Gold three times over.
Of this latest recognition, Iain emphasises the vitalness of his team, 'These awards are a recognition and reminder of several important points – the extraordinary cocoa that is being grown in Sao Tome, the delicious cream those local Friesian cows are producing, the years spent refining carefully balanced recipes, the painstaking techniques used to create the Velvet Truffle naturally without resorting to any artificial flavours or preservatives, and the support across the business that make it possible for us to still be here making them – whether it is the kind and informed conversation our team has with a customer, packing boxes or cleaning up after a busy day.'
