Highland Good Food Partnership has launched a new short film series highlighting businesses across the Inverness and Loch Ness area that are putting local produce at the heart of their menus and offerings.

The “Why I Buy Local” series shines a spotlight on hospitality businesses that are committed to sourcing locally and building strong relationships with Highland producers. Through a collection of short films, the campaign aims to celebrate the people behind local food, whilst encouraging businesses and consumers alike to consider the benefits of buying closer to home.

From local honey and artisan produce to Highland venison and sustainable seafood, the series explores how local sourcing helps support rural economies, strengthen communities and showcase the unique flavours of the Highlands.

The three featured businesses each offer a different perspective on the value of local food:

On the Black Isle, Peter from Fishertown Inn in Cromarty shares how local ingredients help shape a menu that reflects the character, landscape and community surrounding the historic coastal town.

Near the shores of Loch Ness, Morag from Cameron's Tea Room & Farm Shop discusses balancing the needs of visitors and local customers whilst ensuring local produce remains at the centre of the business.

In Inverness's historic Victorian Market, Jamie and Ann Marie from The Redshank explain how working closely with local producers and embracing seasonal ingredients has influenced their menu and business journey from the very beginning.

The films form part of Highland Good Food Partnership's wider work to strengthen local food systems across the region and raise awareness of the businesses and producers helping to build a more sustainable and resilient food future.

By sharing these stories, the Partnership hopes to inspire more businesses to explore local supply chains and encourage residents and visitors alike to support the wealth of food and drink producers operating throughout the Highlands.
