Suzanne Mulholland, the author of four Sunday Times best-selling cookbooks, will demonstrate her batch cooking talents and meal preparation techniques at a pair of public workshops.

The three-day visit will see Suzanne run two “Fill Your Freezer” sessions: at Scalloway Public Hall on Wednesday 6 November and at Bigton Community Hall on Thursday 7 November, with both events running from 6pm to 8pm.

Local producers will be on hand to share some Batch Lady-related special offers, while homemade soup and other tabnabs – along with tasters of Suzanne’s delicious recipes – will also be served to those attending.

“I’m absolutely thrilled to be heading to Shetland for the first time,” Suzanne says. “I can’t wait to dive into the local produce and meet everyone at my two free batch cooking workshops, open to all.

“It’s going to be such an exciting experience – let’s get those Shetland freezers stocked up together.”

Her visit is being organised by Shetland Food & Drink, whose chairwoman Marian Armitage met Suzanne at the Royal Highland Show in 2022, where they were both launching new cookbooks and demonstrating recipes.

Marian says: “We are really blyde tae have attracted Suzanne to wir islands.

"Life can be hectic and she’s an absolute master at coming up wi recipes and time-saving tips allowing fokk tae enjoy tasty hom-cooked meals even on days when you just dunna hae time to cook.”

Based in the Scottish Borders, The Batch Lady has built up a social media following numbering hundreds of thousands after friends persuaded her to share a revolutionary method for preparing homemade meals during a single cooking session.

Putting her skills learnt as a time management specialist to perfect use, over a succession of hugely popular books and online videos she demonstrates techniques for efficient meal prep, savvy grocery shopping and a wide variety of recipes that can be cooked and frozen for future use.

Last year’s bestselling ‘Grab and Cook’ and the four cookbooks that came before it carry a simple premise: by spending an hour in the kitchen each Sunday making quick and affordable recipes, Suzanne saves herself the need to cook from scratch on busy school and work nights.

Marian adds: “Shetlanders’ hae a lang tradition of freezing food – due to wir abundance of seasonal produce; lamb, fish, etc.  I’m sure everyone can learn something useful fae Suzanne's workshops, so I wid urge you tae get dem in da diaries!”

Taste of Shetland would like to extend special thanks to Loganair for their help in bringing Suzanne to Shetland.
