Location: Ratho, Edinburgh / Hybrid-working

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a new graduate to undertake an exciting commercial role working in Scotland, in partnership with Scotmid Co-operative, Scotland’s largest independent co-operative.

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual to gain invaluable insight, skills and knowledge in one of Scotland’s most progressive sectors.

The successful candidate will work within the Scotmid Developing Business team, and with focus on Scottish local suppliers. The candidate will connect with Scotmid’s category and marketing teams to help develop the trading capabilities of suppliers, through effective product ranging, promotions and marketing and help them grow their sales.  The graduate will also sit within Scotland Food & Drink’s UK Market Development team allowing them to share best practice with the industry via initiatives such as briefing events, access to market insight, workshops and learning journeys.

The successful candidate will have access to the learning and development provided by the Scotmid Academy; its purpose is to support, challenge and develop Scotmid people to be the best they can. The Academy offers a range of in-house and accredited training programmes, which are designed to give the skills and knowledge to help encourage success in a retail career.

The role would be suited to a new graduate who is seeking a career in the food and drink industry and/or retail in Scotland and is highly motivated by this exciting sector.  The successful candidate will work between Scotmid (Newbridge) and Scotland Food & Drink (Newbridge).

 

ABOUT THE ROLE

  • Support the delivery of a commercial growth strategy unique to the Scotmid Co-operative business
  • Working with the Local Sourcing Manager, grow sales through analysis of sales performance, waste and margin data and delivery of effective product ranging (including new product development) and promotions
  • Working with the Category Marketing function, grow sales through delivery of effective consumer communications, promotions and events
  • Support Marketing Team with delivery and content, including promotional collateral and all social media channels
  • Provide support, alongside SF&D, to suppliers to develop capabilities in performance and data analysis, business planning and reporting, product ranging and promotional planning
  • Support the department administration; from managing sales trackers, to meetings and event and exhibition set up
  • Key liaison between suppliers, and all other departments
  • Work to agreed targets, monitor progress and deliver regular reports

 

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for a Commercial Development Coordinator who will learn quickly, with confidence to take the initiative when appropriate and who is committed to making their mark within the industry.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Good understanding of and affinity towards the Scottish food & drink industry
  • Demonstrable history of delivering against targets
  • Good understanding of commercial businesses
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Highly motivated individual, showing initiative and ability to proactively manage workloads
  • Exemplary communication and people skills
  • Full Driving Licence
  • A passion for the Scottish food and drink industry and a motivation to see the industry succeed
