Company Bakery
Founded in 2016 by four friends from the food and drink industry, Company Bakery started with a single baker, a single delivery driver, and a shared mission to ensure quality wouldn't be cut short. What began as a search for the best sourdough has grown into something much bigger, with the team now comprising over 80 people, and the range growing to include breads, pastries and much more.
From a base in East Lothian, Company Bakery has built on its sourdough foundations to develop a full repertoire – burger buns and baguettes, sandwich loaves, rye bread, croissants and pastries, each made with the same care and standards that drove the founders to start baking in the first place. For the people the team supplies, it means consistent quality, real craft, and bread that shares a story worth telling.
Central to Company Bakery's vision is its partnership with East Lothian Food & Drink, an organisation supporting over 45 local producers across the region. Through events, trade shows, and collaboration between producers, the Regional Food Group gives smaller businesses a stronger voice and platform.
The group's self-published book, Land, Sea & Hills, brings the local community to life through recipes built around local produce, stories from the people behind it, and imagery captured by a local photographer. It's a love letter to East Lothian's food and drink, and a reminder of just how much produce is being made locally – and why it's worth celebrating.
For Company Bakery, the partnership is a natural one and a true reflection of values the team has held since the beginning.
Since opening its cafe doors in 2024, Company Bakery has had a clear ambition beyond the counter, and continues to build a business that belongs to the local community.
"The coffee we sell is roasted by local folk. The pastries they sell are made by us. The flour that makes those is grown by local farmers. It's a network of co-dependent co-producers that help make a unique experience that wouldn't be replicable anywhere else."
Step inside and you'll find that ambition on every shelf. Alongside bakes and monthly specials, the retail section showcases coffee from local roasters, groceries from regional producers, and carefully chosen selection of goods and merchandise from local makers. It's a showcase for East Lothain food and drink.
"We don’t try to reinvent the wheel, but we do it really well and we bring it to people reliably – once they’re with us, they tend to stick around."
