In a significant milestone for Isle of Harris Distillery, the brand is set to collaborate with its Hebridean neighbour, The Island Spirit Whisky Shop, to launch the distillery's first single cask whisky release with a retailer.

Available in the Stornoway shop on the Isle of Lewis from 18th October, just 241 bottles of the special single cask will be on sale, priced at £95 per 700ml bottle. Matured in a first-fill ex-Buffalo Trace bourbon cask since 2018, the non-chill filtered, lightly peated whisky is bottled at 58.5% ABV and comes with a bespoke label and gift box.

This exciting single cask brings together two celebrated Outer Hebridean brands, united by a passion for spirits of distinction and celebrating the importance of island heritage, to mark the next milestone in Isle of Harris Distillery’s journey. The release allows the distillery to continue its commitment to supporting the island economy through partnerships with local businesses.

Distilled, matured, and bottled on the Isle of Harris, the exclusive single cask expression is crafted by the same team of dedicated locals behind the success of The Hearach single malt – named after the Scottish Gaelic word that refers to a native of the Isle of Harris.

Iain Faller, Director of The Island Spirit Whisky Shop, was given the opportunity to write his very own taste notes for this special dram. “On the nose, the dram sweet like purple summer heather, with freshly cut lemon and lime and a gentle trace of peat smoke from an evening fire. The taste gives subtle smokiness with some warm spices, which quickly give way to a burst of sweet, vanilla marshmallow. Citrus and sweet tropical fruits follow, with more vanilla, apple pie and fresh cream and a smooth and lingering finish.”

Gemma Campbell, Community Events Manager at Isle of Harris Distillery, commented: “We are thrilled to unveil our latest special release with our friends at The Island Spirit Whisky Shop in Stornoway. Having worked closely with Iain, Mary and the team over the past few years, it was a natural choice for them to be the first retailer to receive an exclusive single cask bottling.

“This collaboration will celebrate our shared passion of quality whisky and community value in the Hebrides, we cannot wait to share this one-of-a-kind whisky with some loyal customers and some new fans!”

Iain Faller, Director of The Island Spirit Whisky Shop, said: “We are very excited to be collaborating yet again with our friends at Isle of Harris Distillery, with the release of a single cask bottling of The Hearach exclusively bottled for us at The Island Spirit Whisky Shop.

“We are the first retailer to work with the distillery in a single cask special release, so it means so much to us. It will be a very special moment in our short history as a business but also a very special and memorable time in our history of working together with Isle of Harris Distillery.

“Since opening the shop in July 2020, we have developed a very special relationship with each other. As well as being official stockists for both the gin and whisky, we work very closely with the team to not only develop business and growth of sales, but to take part in local festivals, charitable events and also organise and host gin and whisky tasting evenings. We look forward to many more years of working together with our Hearach friends.”

The Hearach x Island Spirit Whisky Shop single cask will be available to purchase in store from 18th October.
