Scotland’s first and only dedicated non-alcoholic brewery, Jump Ship Brewing, has smashed its latest crowdfunding campaign to help upscale production and bring even more great-tasting alcohol-free beers to its growing fleet of fans. Within one week of going live, Jump Ship Brewing reached £300,140 from 89 investors.

Since opening Scotland’s first and only non-alcoholic brewery in 2023, Jump Ship Brewing founder Sonja Mitchell and her crew have doubled sales, expanded the team from two to six and continued to upscale the purpose-built 20-hectolitre brewery in Midlothian. The success also saw Jump Ship launch Yardarm lager kegs for trade, release ten new beers, and scoop a bevvy of awards for its range.

Sonja Mitchell, Managing Director of Jump Ship, said:

“With more and more people looking to cut back on alcohol, there has never been a better time to scale. We plan to double our production capacity next year and reach tens of thousands of new beer drinkers. We are all incredibly grateful to see 89 people continuing to support our vision and join our crowdfunder.

“And while we might have reached that initial target, the campaign is still live and we're welcoming anyone who wants to come aboard. This is a chance for beer lovers to become part of the Jump Ship story and help us bring more great-tasting alcohol-free options to drinkers across the UK and beyond. Every investment helps us expand our brewing capacity, develop new beers, and reach more people who are looking for quality alternatives without compromise on taste”

With new listings in Buzzworks venues across Scotland, the business is also breaking into travel, with their beers now on Calmac ferries and the Caledonian Sleeper. London listings include Angela Hartnett’s Cafe Murano group. The brewery’s newest release, Steamboat has already won best Non-alcoholic Keg at the Scottish Indie Beer Awards, and also took  bronze in the Champions category  which is the first time a non-alcoholic beer has ever medalled in the overall competition

Sonja Mitchell, a keen sailor, beer-lover and mother of three, decided to ‘jump ship’ from her marketing job to launch her business. The idea behind Jump Ship was born in December 2019 out of a love of beer but a horror of hangovers. Keen to enable more people to enjoy great beer without the booze, Sonja set out to discover if she could produce a world-class alcohol-free beer in Scotland. Jump Ship brews on 100% renewable energy and donates at least 10% of the profits to a variety of charities, which are nominated by Jump Ship’s customers or ‘ship mates’ as they are aptly called.
