Old Course Hotel, Golf Resort & Spa, one of Scotland’s most iconic luxury destinations, has announced an extensive interior renovation of its fourth floor, embodying the hotel's commitment to evolving while honouring its deep-rooted connection to St Andrews.
Scheduled for completion in spring 2025, the refurbishment will enhance the celebrated Road Hole Restaurant, Road Hole Bar and Boardroom, alongside a redecoration of all suites and refined lighting upgrades in select bedrooms. The transformation carefully balances contemporary elegance with the warm, welcoming spirit of Scottish hospitality that defines the hotel.
The project showcases Scottish craftsmanship, with a new interior design scheme that features rich, dark blue tones in the restaurant, transitioning seamlessly from day to night. Meanwhile, the Road Hole Bar will be adorned with sophisticated dark chocolate panelling, complemented by classic leather Chesterfield seating – each element carefully chosen to uphold the hotel’s exceptional standards and create lasting memories for guests.
The redesign has been thoughtfully planned to showcase the hotel's remarkable views over the Old Course and West Sands Beach. Guests will find brand new intimate seating areas throughout the Road Hole Restaurant and Bar, ensuring these breathtaking vistas remain a focal point while offering a more enhanced dining experience.
"This renovation exemplifies our ethos of being always evolving while remaining true to our roots," says Phyllis Wilkie, General Manager, Old Course Hotel Golf Resort & Spa. "As custodians of this remarkable location, we're creating sophisticated, comfortable spaces that better connect our guests with both each other and our spectacular home in St Andrews. Every design decision has been made with our commitment to sustainable practices and our community in mind."

This fourth-floor transformation is part of a broader series of enhancements at Old Course Hotel, including the upcoming renovation of the Kohler Waters Spa, set to begin in April to late summer 2025. The spa renovation will introduce new features such as an innovative snow and sauna cabin, upgraded facilities, and improved sustainability measures, further demonstrating the hotel’s commitment to innovation and excellence in guest experience.
