Scottish agricultural charity, RSABI, is inviting the Perthshire community to its ‘Only Fools, No Horses’ event taking place on Friday September 12th at Perth Racecourse.
Eventgoers will see celebrity and well-kent farming faces race against each other during an evening of great fun and food plus entertainment from none other than the cast and crew of famous TV soap, Emmerdale.
Bets can be placed on the celebrity ‘Runners, no Riders’ who will be racing against each other on foot, with names including Farmer Comedian, Jim Smith, who has worked closely with RSABI as part of the charity’s, #KeepTalking campaign. Known for touring across Scotland, Jim comes equipped with humour and is ready to take on the challenge.
Joining Jim in the race are Ben Imrie from Hillhead Farm and Andrew Morris from Logie Farm in Newburgh. Ben, Andrew, and their families captured hearts across Scotland when they appeared in series seven of BBC Two’s popular farming show This Farming Life. Also taking part is social media sensation Ben Best from Dalscone Farm and some familiar faces from The Scottish Association of Young Farmer Clubs (SAYFC), including National Chair, Jillian Kennedy, Ally Brunton and Jack Simpson.
The latest famous face to join the lineup is TikTok star Will Murray, who was named Content Creator of the Year at the 2024 British Farming Awards. Will is excited to swap his wellies for trainers as he supports this great cause.
As well as cheering their favourite farming celebrity runners on, eventgoers will have a fantastic buffet supper and exclusive musical performance from the multitalented Emmerdale crew, all whilst supporting RSABI.
All money raised from the event will go directly to RSABI’s vital support services. The charity aims to support those in the farming community with financial, emotional and practical advice, whilst encouraging them to keep talking to each other to combat loneliness within the sector.
Pauline Macmillan Head of Fundraising at RSABI said: “Only Fools, No Horses is shaping up to be a fantastic evening full of great sports and on behalf of everyone at RSABI I’d like to thank our sponsors, Gillespie Macandrew; our hosts, Perth Racecourse; and our amazing runners for making this event possible.
Tickets are now on sale and I’d encourage everyone to book quickly if you don’t want to miss out on this fun-filled evening.”
Tickets cost £35 plus booking fee, include a buffet supper and can be purchased via Eventbrite. Attendees are reminded to place their bets responsibly.
The Only Fools, No Horses event takes place the night before the much-anticipated Scone Palace Challenge on Saturday 13 September. The Challenge will see groups of five compete in a series of events at Scone Palace in Perthshire, with the cast of Emmerdale ready to compete against those in the farming community. Headline sponsor of The Great Scone Palace Challenge is Scottish legal firm Gillespie Macandrew, who provide specialist legal and tax advice to rural businesses in Scotland and are proud supporters and long-term fundraising partners of RSABI.
As hosts of the Challenge, Scone Palace has named RSABI as its charity of the year and has supported with both costs and logistics, helping to make the event possible.
