Salary: £26,000 to £28,000 annually, dependant on  experience

Annual Leave entitlement: 25 days (plus 10 bank holidays)

Working hours: Full time – permanent

Location: Ratho, Edinburgh / Hybrid-working

Reporting to: The Communications & Social Media Assistant will report to the Digital Marketing Manager

JOB SUMMARY

The Communications and Social Media Assistant is responsible for supporting the delivery of communication and digital campaigns to support our membership engagement, event programme and industry leadership role, with the aim of helping to secure, sustain and grow Scotland’s food and drink sector.

You will work with the wider Communications and Marketing team and our creative and PR agencies to support the planning, creation and delivery of engaging content and assets, utilising all channels of digital marketing, PR and wider communication to achieve campaign and business objectives.

You will be able to work both independently and as part of our Brand and Communications team, across a variety of long and short campaigns to raise the profile of Scotland Food & Drink and promote the sector as a whole.

ABOUT THE ROLE

  • Assist in campaign planning and management, coordinating with Scotland Food & Drink teams and creative agencies.
  • Manage the creation of social media platform content schedules, working with the wider Brand and Communications team to ensure that plans capture all Scotland Food & Drink activity and latest industry news.
  • Draft engaging organic social media copy and work independently and with our agency to create strong visual assets that match Scotland Food & Drink’s brand and tone of voice to produce exciting and creative content.
  • Support on the day-to-day updating of the Scotland Food & Drink website, taking initiative to update key information on our homepage and events pages.
  • Assist with the creation of email marketing campaigns that compliment current social media activity.
  • Support on the external and internal communications of Scotland Food & Drink, through activity such as press releases, quotes, comment pieces and articles or blogs.
  • Draft engaging email campaigns and newsletters with a focus on selling event tickets, driving membership acquisition and retention and raising awareness of business growth opportunities for our members.

ABOUT YOU

The successful candidate will have:

  • 2+ years of experience in communications / social media and a keen interest in social media trends across all platforms.
  • The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and take initiative independently.
  • Experience in website editing and page narrative creation, including a solid understanding of SEO best practice.
  • The ability to multi-task and work to a variety of deadlines at any one time.
  • Excellent copy writing and proofing skills for both long and shortform copy.
  • Press and media communications experience.
  • Experience of working with creative and PR agencies.
  • An enthusiastic can-do attitude, welcoming of feedback
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills alongside working knowledge of Adobe, Canva and other content creation tools.
  • A passion of the Scottish food and drink industry and a motivation to see the industry succeed.
